Stompers open up CCL play with an 8-5 win over the Walnut Creek Crawdads

The Sonoma Stompers made their first road trip of the season and came back with an 8-5 victory over the Walnut Creek Crawdads. The victory means that Sonoma starts the year off 1-0 in league play. The Stomps scored four runs in the first inning all thanks to drawing walks. With the contest tied at 4 in the middle stages, Sonoma plated another four runs to take an 8-4 lead.

The Stompers bullpen was also fantastic. Sonoma had four relievers who got the job done. Hawk Hill (W), Raul Valvirde, Dylan Burke, and Ross Goldshlag (S) only gave up one run combined. Goldshlag closed the game by striking out the side.  

Sonoma improves to 5-1 on the season. The Stomps are back in action tomorrow against the Menlo Park Legends. First pitch is set for 6:05. Come out to Arnold field or tune into the game on the Sonoma Stompers Youtube.   

Stompers Offense Explodes For 19 Runs In Win Over Knicks

The Sonoma Stompers picked up its first fourth win of the season thanks to an offensive explosion. The Stompers took down the Novado Knicks 19-4. Sonoma scored 18 runs combined in the second and third innings. Third baseman Tyler Holly blasted a grand slam in the second inning to break the game open. 

Meanwhile, starting pitcher Bryant Thornton was solid again. Thornton only gave up one run in four innings while also tallying four strikeouts. Patrick Atkinson (W) followed suit with two scoreless innings. The Stompers did not allow any runs from the 2nd to 8th inning. 

The Stompers are back in action tomorrow when they hit the road to take on Walnut Creek. First pitch is set for 4 pm. You can catch the game on our Mixlr. That can be accessed through our website.

STOMPERS GET REVENGE WITH 8-0 WIN OVER LEGENDS

The Sonoma Stompers bounced back after a tough loss on Saturday night with a resounding 8-0 win over Melo Park Legacy. The Stompers hung a three-spot in the fourth inning led by third baseman Luke Rossi’s two RBI double. Sonoma kept the offense going in the fifth when Rossi knocked in another two runs with a double.

The pitching staff turned in a great effort in its own right with six Stompers pitchers combined to shutout Menlo Park. Tyler Looney started striking out six over three innings before Evan Sandoval (W) pitched a scoreless fourth. A slew of other Stompers relievers finished off the final five scoreless innings. 

The Stompers have back-to-back off days before they take on the Novato Knicks on Wednesday, June 5th at 6:05. Sonoma took the first two games of the season against Novato. Come out to Arnold Field on Wednesday or tune in to the game on Sonoma Stompers Youtube!  

STOMPERS DROP THEIR FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON

The Sonoma Stompers fell to the Menlo Park Legacy 15-4 in the first game of the weekend series. The Legacy exploded for seven runs in the third and four more in the fourth. Six straight two-out hits headlined the Legacy’s offensive outburst in the foruth. While the Stompers offense struggled, catcher Jack Vanoncini delivered the only big hit with a two-run homer to left-center in the fifth. Jesus Menguia took home the win for the Legacy while Brett Mallett suffered the loss.

STOMPERS ROUT KNICKS 12-2

The Sonoma Stompers finished off a two-game sweep of the Novato Knicks with a resounding 10-run win. The offense exploded for seven runs in the second inning, led by two RBI singles from left fielder Cuyler Zuckowski and left third baseman Brady Boyd. Zuckowski would add another two RBIs in the third to close out four runs batted day out of the three-hole. Ben Giovannetti tacked on an RBI double in the fifth. 

The Stompers pitching staff was great yet again, allowing just two runs neither of which were earned. Jake Tirk struck out five in three shutout innings to open the game. He was followed by Carson Glavich (W), Dylan Burke, and Garrett James none of them allowed an earned run.

STOMPERS SHUT OUT KNICKS ON OPENING DAY

Four Stompers pitchers combined to twirl a gem in a 4-0 opening-day victory over the Novato Knicks. Bryant Thornton got the start and pitched three shutout innings striking out four, followed by Jake Verwiel (W), who turned in three shutout innings of his own. Josh Albright shut down the Knicks in the middle innings allowing just one hit in two innings, and Raul Valdivia shut the door in the ninth. The Stompers' defense sparkled with shortstop Trent Abel making a few plays in a zero-error day behind Stomps' pitching. 


On the offense side of the ball, Cuyler Zukowski scored the first run of the Stompers season on a first-inning error. Paul Contreras supplied the rest of the offense when he smashed a three-home run into the Left Field Oasis in the fourth frame.
